Behavioral Health, Mental Health,
Personality Disorders, & Addiction

Many people don't realize that there is a difference between behavioral Health and Mental Health. The truth is, there's a big difference. If we can make the distinction simple, you could say behavioral health has to do with actions people take whereby mental health has to do with true chemical imbalances and has to do with mood.

Clinical professionals specialize just like medical professionals specialize. Thus, you should not be seeing a brain doctor if its a foot doctor you need; just as you should not be seeing a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, necessarily, if you need to be treated for complex trauma.

Dual Diagnosis means you have more than one issue happening. For instance, you may have PTSD and have addiction. Thus, you may need to see several therapists, depending on your needs and also depending on what your therapist is trained in. Therapists are required to get ongoing training so the therapist you choose may be trained in multiple modalities, ie. you only have to tell your story once.

A Models of therapy link is posted to the right. Cruise around and see what you see. You can ask your clinicians or professionals what they are trained in and choose accordingly. Let us know if you have any questions, we're always here to help, even if you don't choose us. We want what's best for the client and will help you find support however that looks.
